More Ideas for the Blessed Mother

May Crowning was on Friday and it was beautiful as always. The principal kept a careful eye on the weather (it was very overcast all day) and gave the “green light” to process around the school 10 minutes before the ceremony was to begin. And of course, the minute we started our walk outside, it began to sprinkle. Then it became a light shower. By the time we finished our very short walk around the school everyone was a little bit wet. But the ceremony was lovely and my students did a great job using the little rosaries we made in class. Did you miss that post? Catch up and read all about the rosary project here.

Since May is Mary’s month, I have two great FREEBIES for you in honor of the Blessed Mother.

The first freebie is a copy of the Hail Mary Prayer for students, and the pages to assemble a poster of the prayer for use in class. We used the prayer as our Poem of the Week last week. I had a few students that were still learning the prayer and it was an excellent opportunity for them to master it before our end of year report card assessments.

The second freebie is a drawing page. We talked about stories from the Bible and Catholic teachings that featured Mary. Many of them were stories the children already knew (Angel Gabriel visiting Mary to tell her she would be the mother of Jesus, the Nativity story, Mary seeing Jesus die on the cross). Other stories were new to the students (the Assumption of Mary into heaven.) After sharing and reviewing stories, my students illustrated their favorite story about Mary. Each child’s drawing was so sweet. Download my FREE Mary is the Blessed Mother drawing activity.

Hi, I'm Maria.

I’m a former kindergarten teacher turned work-from-home mom. I still love sharing ideas and resources to make teaching easier, so you can focus on what really matters in the classroom. When I’m not working on the blog, you’ll find me chasing kids around the house with a cold cup of coffee in my hand (some things never change even once you’re out of the classroom!)
