An engaging low prep activity to practice decomposing numbers! This set of 4 interactive worksheets is designed to help students develop the skill of decomposing numbers 4, 7, 8, and 9 using 1-inch paper tiles. On each activity page, students will create different ways to represent a number, then record the corresponding addition sentence beside each tile creation. It’s great hands-on practice while students learn to decompose!
Your young learners will enjoy this visual for making numbers. Help deepen your students’ understanding and strengthen their number sense skills with this decomposition review. Great to use an anchor chart with the whole class, or in small groups.

Please note: The decomposing practice for numbers 7, 8, and 9 are two pages each. They can be copied separately on 8.5″x11″ paper or taped together and copied onto 11″x17″ paper. (This is what I did and my kids LOVED doing work on a really big piece of paper.)
