Today was blue day in my kindergarten classroom! We have been studying color words for over a week and today was dedicated to the color blue. I was BEYOND thrilled to discover that the royal blue t-shirts I ordered from ClassroomFaces.com arrived in time for my students to show off their uniqueness in a very special way today!
If you’re not familiar with ClassroomFaces.com, you need to be informed! It is a wonderful website (run by the same team at TeacherShirts.com) that transforms children’s drawings into a composite art collage on each t-shirt. Templates are provided on the website. For my kindergarten students, I used a set with pre-formatted ovals. My students just added eyes, a nose, a mouth and hair! I mailed the collection of drawings off to ClassroomFaces and eagerly waited for the fax of the t-shirt proof. Once it arrived, I signed off on the design so the shirts could be produced and shipped.
When our custom shirts arrived last week, I felt like a kid on Christmas morning. I had so much fun pouring over every single drawing of the kindergarten students. I personally sat with each student while they created the drawings with a marker, but there was something so much more special about seeing the doodles printed on a t-shirt!
I never told my students or the parents about our special t-shirt design and I was careful not to spoil the surprise before they arrived home. Just like wrapping a gift, I lovingly rolled each t-shirt up and rubber banded the children’s order forms along with a note encouraging families to treat their very special shirts with care. My students were not allowed to unravel the blue bundles at school… I wanted the families to feel like it was Christmas too!
Today was finally the big day! We debuted our new kindergarten t-shirts from ClassroomFaces.com and received SO many compliments. The other teachers at my school praised our awesome shirts every time we passed them in the hallway. My students felt like celebrities!
I swear I have the cutest little group of kindergarten students ever this year and I wish I could show you their sweet faces. Fortunately, this picture provides a little glimpse into their adorability. They make my heart so happy!
If you want to order a set of Classroom Faces t-shirts for your own class, I have great news! Kinder-Craze followers can order a set of classroom t-shirts with black ink at a price of $10 per shirt. (The regular price is $13.) Just make sure you use discount code KINDER-CRAZE when you place your order. We got a sample of one of those at our school. I thought they were adorable!!!
These are super adorable!!! I will have to check these out!
Umm you have 10 students???!
Yes, I have a very small class this year. I NEVER have enough time to cover content in a half-day setting so 10 students is such a gift!
I am packing up now 🙂
I just counted 10 kiddos, too! Seriously?!
You are adorable!!!!!!!!!
Look at her shirt folks, more than 10 kiddos drew a self-portrait! LOVE these shirts!! You said you surprised them and the parents and provided order forms… Did you pay upfront for the parents or???
Hi Kelly,
I completely understand the confusion, but no, that’s not exactly how the surprise worked. We ask parents to pay a $25 Kindergarten Fee at the beginning of the school year. It covers materials costs for many of our special events throughout the year, in addition to the t-shirts. We are always very clear about where the money goes. The parents knew their child would receive a t-shirt and paid for it in advance, We just kept the super-cute design a secret until after the shirts arrived 🙂
I wondered that too, Kelly. I can’t see my parents being too thrilled if I ordered a t-shirt for them and then expected them to pay me back…
Howdy would you mind letting me know which web host you’re using?
I’ve loaded your blog in 3 completely different internet browsers and I must say this blog loads a lot quicker then most.
Can you recommend a good internet hosting provider
at a honest price? Cheers, I appreciate it!
